Genetic parameters and selection indexes for biofortified red leaf lettuce

Abstract: The objective of this work was to determine the genetic parameters and efficiency different selection indices for biofortified red leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. crispa) lines with agronomic nutritional potential. experiment carried out in a randomized complete block design three replicates 31 crisp-textured red-tinted genotypes: Belíssima cultivar, low carotenoid content rich anthocyanins; 30 from cross between Uberlândia 10000 cultivars, carotenoids anthocyanin content. assessed traits were: total green mass (g), stem diameter (cm), count, plant foliar temperature (°C), soil analysis development (SPAD) index, (mg 100 g-1 sample), bolting (days after sowing). To estimate gains, 12 genotypes were selected through indices. traditional index proposed by Smith & Hazel sum ranks Mulamba Mock provided highest gains lettuce. coefficient genotypic determination content, bolting, SPAD is high magnitude.
